Growing Your Own Food
Growing food goes a long way to helping communities be healthy. Learn more about growing food here!
3 years ago, I founded the Rainbow Garden Society (RGS). RGS is a community garden and “food literacy” non-profit that supports the LGBTQIA+ Community’s hunger needs by teaching gardening and cooking skills to our members.
This garden has become so much more than a place to grow food. It is a community of people who support each other, care for the community, and care for their own health. Gardening is powerful. Its ability to support mental health alongside cultivation of food that is locally grown and better for your body makes it an act of love, and an act of subversion as access to home-grown food replaces the need for imported, expensive grocery store food. So grow your own! Use a pot, get some dirt, put in some seeds, and give it sunshine and water and see what happens! Or even better, garden with your community and watch your life change.
Here are some gardening resources.
